In the twenty-first century, we have grown accustomed to expecting everything at our fingertips.
When I was growing up, I didn’t know people that had laptops or cell phones; if I wanted to talk
to someone, I picked up the phone and called them or sent them a letter through the postal service
. These days, that isn’t even an option anymore—most people use their smartphones as their primary
means of communication, so if you don’t have your phone with you (or are without service), you’re
out of luck.
